Dare to Dream: From London to the Forest of Washington

We turned off the road up a forested drive, searching for a tiny home we rented for three nights, and there she was, radiant, fabulous, eyes dancing with delight, driving a cement compactor toward us. As she got closer, I could see she was waving and laughing. Everything about this vibrant person screamed FUN! I knew from the moment I laid eyes on her, I wanted to know her.

She rolled up on her heavy machinery to greet us, and a lush British accent unfurled, as two little pugs danced around her and ushered our pup Stella off for a tour of the property.

Alexandra has that thing I just love about a human, she is unabashedly herself, from the moment you meet. Within 15 minutes, we had dropped into her life story, one that is exceedingly worthy of a page-turning auto-biography, followed by a blockbuster rom-com. Only better, because she will be the one to write, produce, act, and direct it after she designs the sets with her keen eye for all things delicious for your experience. Yes, she has worn all these hats in her incredible life, and many more. I hope she will do us a favor and get her life story available for all of us to enjoy.

One of her most recent creations is the development of the beautiful forested property we met her on in Port Ludlow, WA just across the road from the Hood Canal. She lives there with her lovely partner, Drew, who is a contractor and exceptional craftsman.

Back in 2006, before blogs were blogs, she started one about sustainable living, and here she is now, building a magical, sustainable compound in the forest of WA, surrounded by acres of DNR land to get found in.

Alexandra shared how living childfree has allowed her to take risks and have many experiences with her life, including living around the world, being a creator in numerous mediums, exciting career opportunities, meeting incredible people, and leaping into love again in midlife when it came calling (you'll have to read the book or watch the movie for this story when it comes out…it's incredible!)

Her project in the forest began unexpectedly during the early days of COVID, and is still unfolding. It has not been without its stressors, but the freedom she experiences to create with her partner in this endeavor while continuing to write and manifest in her other careers has afforded her another great opportunity for abundance, adventure and creativity.

Settling into our tiny home for the weekend.

Alexandra and Drew’s creative touch over every inch!

We meandered freely through the hundreds of acres around their land in the deliciously slow sunset of WA summers glowing through the trees.

There's something profoundly magical for me witnessing a woman taking exciting adventures on and creating freely with her life. It inspires me to keep dreaming and taking courageous steps into the unknown.

How about you, my friend? Who and what inspires you to dream big and move toward them?
